Melissa Bahleda, daughter of John and Ruth Forter of Butler, was recently selected as a Mountain Mover in Glamour magazine and Toyota's Moving Forward Contest.Bahleda was chosen from more than 2,000 women as one of two finalists in the Mountain Mover category, which honors women who act as advocates, reformers or defenders and whose work impacts their communities in positive ways.Among other prizes, Bahleda will receive a 2007 Toyota Hybrid Highlander and had an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to attend the awards ceremony on Oct. 30. She will also appear in the December issue of Glamour.Bahleda, who currently resides in Shenandoah, Va., was nominated for her work as an animal welfare advocate.She owns and operates PARTNERS! Canine Training, Behavior Counseling and Shelter Services, and volunteers with various local and national animal welfare groups.Bahleda was also one of several dog trainers deployed to Louisiana and Mississippi to assist with animal rescue efforts following hurricane Katrina.Bahleda also works with lawmakers and legislators to promote conservation efforts and is an active member of several wildlife and environmental conservation groups.Aformer employee and volunteer of the Butler County Humane Society, Bahleda graduated from Butler High School in 1987, received a bachelor's degree in English from Kent State University in 1991 and obtained a master's degree in education in 1993, also from KSU.———Winners at the
