As summer returns, live music will be available at area parks and other venues.

Here are a few local places and events where people can catch live music.

Live music can be expected at Butler’s Foodie Fridays — which are scheduled to take place May 17, June 21, July 19 and Aug. 16 — when food trucks gather along Butler’s Main Street.

While no acts have been made public yet, each Foodie Friday has a different theme. For instance, there’s the ’80s in June and the Dog Days of Summer in July. The events are held every third Friday of the month beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The Slippery Rock Golf Club & Events Center on Ralston Road in Slippery Rock hosts live music on every Friday night at 7 p.m.

Butler’s Alameda Park is hosting a series of free summer concerts on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m., from June 11 through Aug. 8, in the First Responders Pavilion.

The concert schedule consists of Endless Thirst on June 11; Jukebox Revue on June 18; Tom Panei on June 20; the Kleeman Brothers Band on June 25; Frank Vieira on June 27; The Wrangler Band on July 2; Muddy Creek on July 9; Chris Denem on July 16; Better Late on July 18; Usual Suspects on July 23; Eugene and the Night Crawlers on July 30; Washboard Tony & Rockin’ Rob on Aug. 1; Angel Blue and the Prophets on Aug. 6; and the Z-Town Street Band on Aug. 8.

Several live music acts are scheduled to appear at the Big Butler Fair, which will take place June 28 through July 6 at the Big Butler Fairgrounds.

Country musician Sammy Kershaw is one of the acts which has been confirmed to appear at the fair. His concert is scheduled for the fair’s closing night at 7 p.m.

Cranberry Township’s summer celebration will feature a mix of local and regional acts. Community Days, the annual three-day celebration presented by the Cranberry Township Community Chest, is set for July 11 through 13.

One staple of the event is the live entertainment on the Rotary Amphitheater.

The music lineup includes This-That & The Other Thing and OldSkool on July 11 and The S’Wearing Hats and The AltRocks on July 12. The shows on both evenings run from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

On July 13, the lineup includes 56 East, My So-called 90’s Band and REFUGE. Bands play from 1:30 to 9 p.m. with half hour breaks between their performances.

The annual Butler Rib & Music Fest at Pullman Park is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 2, through Sunday, Aug. 4. No musical acts have been announced yet.

Cooper’s Lake Campground in Slippery Rock will host the Band Jam Grass Roots Music Festival from Thursday, Aug. 22, through Sunday, Aug. 25.

The annual show was created to commemorate the anniversary of the popular “Band Jam” radio show on WLER. While the full lineup has yet to be nailed down, some of the acts scheduled for Thursday include singer/songwriters Jake Parks, A.E. Honick and Melissa Quinn Fox. Friday and Saturday’s schedules will be dedicated to full bands.

The fifth annual Open Air Market in Zelienople is held from 5 to 9 p.m. every Thursday through Sept. 26 along Zelienople’s Main Street, and features live music, street food, children’s activities and more. For a detailed list of performers this season, go to www.openairzelie.com.
