Marchuk

John Marchuk of Butler celebrated his 93rd birthday recently with a party at his home.

Marchuk was born Feb. 4, 1915, in Lyndora. He married Mary Hallahan on Nov. 8, 1945.

He has four children, Judy Vild of Freedom, Nick Marchuk of Cranberry Township, Mary Huegel of Butler and Annette Lecheler of Denison, Texas.

He also has six grandchildren.

Marchuk is retired from Armco, where he was a steel worker. AWorld War IIveteran, he served with the 8th Air Force as a B-24 tailgunner in 32 missions. His flight jacket has been placed in the Soldiers and Sailors Military Museum in Pittsburgh.

Marchuk attends St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora, where he serves as an usher.
