Marchuk 65th anniversary

The Marchuks in 1945

John and Mary Marchuk of Butler celebrated 65 years of marriage by renewing their vows at their home in front of family and friends.

Marchuk married the former Mary Hallahn on Nov. 8, 1945, at St. John Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.

They have four children, Judith Vild of Beaver, Nicholas Marchuk of Mars, Mary Huegel of Butler and Annette Lecheler of Denison, Texas.

They also have six grandchildren.

Marchuk retired after 41 years from the shipping department of Armco Steel. A veteran of World War II, he served in the 8th Air Force. He was inducted in 1997 into the Lyndora Legion’s Hall of Fame. His picture is on display in the Veteran’s Hall of Fame in the Butler County Government Center and his flight jacket is on display at the Solders and Sailors Hall in Pittsburgh. He is a member of VFW Post 249 in Butler, American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora, the Moose Lodge, the Slovak Club and the CB Rangers.Mrs. Marchuk worked for the government effort during World War II. She is a homemaker and a member of her church ladies’ guild.The Marchuks belong to St. John Byzantine Catholic Church.
