Joan and Sid Schiever

Sid and Joan Schiever of Harmony celebrated 50 years of marriage recently with a party at Betsy's Barn in Portersville.

The former Joan Mickley married Schiever Aug. 29, 1957, at St. Peter's Reformed Church in Zelienople.

They have four children, Kathy Hartzell of Slippery Rock; Elaine Savage of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Mike Schiever of Harmony; and Carolyn Cafaro of Gibsonia.

They also have 14 grandchildren.

A dairy farmer, Schiever formerly operated Schiever Farm Dairy. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.

Mrs. Schiever is a former employee of Ellwood City Hospital, where she worked as an emergency room nurse. She belongs to the Harmony Historical Association.

The couple belongs to St. Peter's Reformed Church.
