Bus accident ties up traffic on Rt. 228 this morning

ADAMS TWP — A small bus from the A.J. Myers fleet this morning was involved in a minor accident on Route 228.

No students were on board as the eastbound bus waited about 10 cars back at a traffic signal at Warrendale Road. A car hit the rear of the car behind the bus, which was pushed into the bus’ bumper.

Adams Area Fire District Captain Al Minjock said the bus had minimal damage and was able to drive away.

He said the accident occurred at 8:37 a.m., and tied up traffic on busy Route 228 for about a half an hour.

Also this morning, emergency crews responded to a single-car accident in Summit Township at 8:48 a.m.

The car rolled over after hitting an embankment on Freeport Road near its intersection with Headland Road, authorities said.

The man driving the car suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital.
