Butler County is expected to experience the remnants of Hurricane Ida, but the rainfall is not likely to be uniform across the county.

Meteorologist Myranda Fullerton, of the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, has been tracking the fallout of the storm,

“There is not a flash-flood warning for Butler, but there will be a sharp gradient of rainfall for the southern part of Butler area,” Fullerton said.

Widespread rainfall is expected for Tuesday evening and Wednesday during the daytime, she added.

“Much of Butler County will see a half-inch to an inch of rainfall. The southern parts of Butler County may see rainfall totals of an inch to an inch and a half,” Fullerton said.

While there is not a flash-flood warning in effect, flooding still may be a possibility in flood-prone areas of Butler.

“Be mindful of poor drainage or low-lying areas,” Fullerton said, adding that urban infrastructure is less equipped to deal with a storm of this size.

With the recent flooding and power outages in Butler, residents — especially in southern Butler County — will need to remain vigilant during the storm, Fullerton said.
