Jean R. McCracken, 91, formerly of Third Avenue, Butler, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at the Lowrie House.

Born in Saxonburg, Aug. 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Stella Lang Rasely.

She was a graduate of the St. John Hospital School of Nursing, Pittsburgh, Class of 1941.

She was a registered nurse at Butler Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years, retiring in 1984.

She was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the Nurses Alumni Association of Butler Memorial Hospital and the VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by three sons, William D. McCracken and his wife, Linda, of Mesa, Ariz., Randal E. McCracken and his wife, Janet, of Butler and Ronald L. McCracken of Butler; four daughters, Mrs. Donna J. Peffer and her husband, Dale, of Slippery Rock, Joan A. McCracken of Butler, Joyce A. McCracken of Butler and Mrs. Mary Ann Vaughn of Butler; one sister, Mrs. Eva Wilbert of Butler; six grandchildren, Benjamin Peffer of Maryland, Emily Peffer of Slippery Rock, Matthew McCracken of Butler, Amanda McCracken of New York, Stella Vaughn of Butler and Joel Vaughn of Butler.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. McCracken, who passed away April 19, 1999; four brothers, and two sisters

<B>MCCRACKEN</B> — Friends of Jean R. McCracken, who died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, will be received in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in the St. Peter Cemetery.Members of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at the church at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday to recite the rosary.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church or to the Lowrie House.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
