Raymond J. Vogel, 83, of Saxonburg, formerly of Middlesex Township, died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford.

Born Feb. 27, 1924, in Butler Township, he was the son of Henry P. and Gladys Harbison Vogel.

He had been a first-class boiler and turbine repairman at Duquesne Light for 34 years and retired in 1984. He previously had worked at Armco.

Mr. Vogel was an active member of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, where he was ordained elder, a deacon and trustee and served as a helping hand.

He also was a member of John E. Mair Lodge 729 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Syria Shriners Valley of Pittsburgh, Butler Caravan 14, the Saxony Shrine Club, the Acacia Club and the Butler Luncheon Club.

Surviving are a son, Larry Vogel of New Market, Md.; two daughters, Carol (Jerry) Healy of California and Connie Pastva of Allison Park; a brother, Robert Vogel of Ohio; a sister, Rosamond (James) Curry of Butler Township; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Betty Marie Byers Vogel, who died Aug. 24, 2005; two brothers, and two sisters.

<B>VOGEL</B> — Friends of Raymond J. Vogel, who died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Greg Weist officiating. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Dorseyville.Memorial donations may be made to Glade Run United Presbyterian Church.Information also is available at www.foxfuneralhomeinc.com.
