Nonni's Corner Trattoria
Nonni puts her all into everything she makes.
Whether it’s her signature tomato sauce and tender meatballs or her phenomenal chicken cacciatore, she prepares everything as though her grandchildren were eating every bite.
At Nonni’s Corner Trattoria in Grove City, it’s not uncommon for her guests to shed a happy tear from tasting something as wonderful as their own grandmothers used to make.
Her outstanding tomato sauce is the cornerstone of the wonderful dishes she creates. Served over any of her pastas, including whole wheat or gluten free, it’s outstanding.
Chicken Parmesan with whole meat chicken breasts coated in Nonni’s seasoned breading and delicious eggplant Parmesan are absolute southern Italian treats. Lasagna with layers of pasta, cheeses, and meat baked to a hearty perfection embodies many Italian flavors within a single dish.
And, of course, Nonni’s indescribably satisfying chicken cacciatore in the richest red wine sauce is a perfect example of the rustic goodness her family was served growing up in America and in Italy.
Having learned from the skillful hands of her Sicilian born grandmother, Nonni brings generations of recipes to life.
As a native of Clearfield, Pa., Nonni (Helena Valenza) spent years managing her father’s Italian restaurant, a town landmark for nearly 50 years. Likewise, her daughter, Camille Valenza-Hazelton, and son, Dave Valenza, enjoyed the benefits of growing up in the restaurant and the influence of a rich Sicilian heritage.
In addition to acting as sous chef, Camille also prepares delectable desserts. Citrusy lemon squares, Italian almond cream cake and locally made gelatos are some of the scrumptious desserts you’ll find there. Espressos and rich cappuccinos go hand in hand with them.
Camille, along with her husband, Andrew, and two boys are happy to claim Grove City as their home for more than 14 years.
Dave proudly serves as the restaurant’s owner and general manager.
After many years of saving and planning, Nonni, Camille and Dave established their own restaurant in 2010. Now that he, his wife, Susann, and two children are in the same town, he explains that having all the families together in the beautiful setting of Grove City is a wonderful blessing.
Nonni’s elegant atmosphere makes it a great choice for the many rehearsal dinners, parties, meetings and other celebrations held there. Live weekend entertainment has established Nonni’s as an intimate venue for many musicians who play soft jazz, classic Italian, night club standards and soft pop. It’s one of the few locations where it’s common to hear a strolling mandolinista strumming the classic Italian melodies.
Their fine list of wines, beers and spirits is a wonderful dining compliment to consider as well.
Be sure to experience the elegant atmosphere, authentic Italian food, delectable desserts and live entertainment that is Nonni’s Corner Trattoria!
