8:14 p.m. Tuesday — Alcohol is a suspected factor in a two-vehicle crash that left six people injured in Marion Township.Police said Walter Martin, 22, of Slippery Rock was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his speeding pickup truck sideswiped a car on Boyers Road.The collision forced the car, driven by Robert Dematteis, 48, ofBoyers, into a utility pole. The pickup traveled through a fence and into a field.Injured in the crash were Martin and Vincent Cenkner, 36, of SlipperyRock, a passenger in the pickup, and Kimberly Dematteis, 42, of Boyers and three children, ages 6, 13, and 15, all passengers in the car. All those injured with minor to moderate injuries were taken to the Grove City Medical Center.Police said Martin faces other traffic violations in addition to DUI.Cenkner, meanwhile, was arrested after police learned he was wanted on a warrant out of California. He was placed in the Butler County Prison pending extradition.Tuesday — Jessica Clougherty, 23, ofEllwood City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 68 at the Oakland/Summit Township line.Tuesday — Police reported they are investigating the theft of four Steelers tickets valued at $235 that were taken between July 16 and Aug. 16 from a Clyde Lane home in Center Township. Sara Josephs of Butler owns the tickets.Monday — A Stihl chain saw valued at $700 was stolen from a log skidder in a wooded area off Butternut Road in Fairview Township. Beary Logging of Knox, Clarion County owns the chain saw.
10:50 p.m. Friday — Police said a tractor-trailer truck driven by Larry Wesby, 38, of Avondale, La., hit the marquee of the Strand Theatre. The driver left the scene, but police later found the truck and the driver sleeping in the cab at a road pull off near Northland Ford on Route 19. He apparently was unaware that his vehicle caused any damage. The driver was to contact the owners of the Strand Theatre with his insurance information. Ron Carter of the Strand Theatre Initiative, the group rehabilitating the theater, said the sign remains in working condition, although some neon lighting was damaged.12:24 p.m. Aug. 15 — Alvin D. Myers, 40, an employee of Meyer's Tire Shop, was attempting to turn into the business at 412 South Main St. from a test drive of a customer's vehicle when the vehicle was struck by a vehicle driven by Jeremy M. Blinn, 21, of Lindsay Road, Zelienople, who police said was attempting to pass the first vehicle on the right. The customer's vehicle is owned by Dale R. McCright of Zelienople.5:53 p.m. Aug. 13 —- Motorcyclist Craig E. Helmstaedter, 23, of Stratford Court, Cranberry Township, and his passenger, Barbi Palmer, 23, no address available, sustained minor cuts and bruises when Helmstaedter's motorcycle's wheels slid out from under him when he hit loose glass while making a turn at the intersection of Main and Beaver streets. The two were able to drive away.12:30 p.m. Aug. 10 —- Jerry Mazur, 49, of Pittsburgh, who also lists an address on Benvue Lane in Zelienople, reported a row of corn, valued at $200, was stolen from the cornfield across from the Zelienople borough electrical substation on Route 68.4:43 p.m. Aug. 8 —- A delivery truck driven by Charles H. Silvis, 46, of West Jefferson, Ohio, accidentally pulled down telephone lines and loosened electrical wires along Jackson Street in Harmony.
8:59 a.m. Sunday — A car driven by J. Glenn Davidson, 66, of Freeport hit two vehicles parked on High Street in Freeport, Armstrong County. Police said the crash occurred when Davidson fell asleep at the wheel.8:45 p.m. Saturday — Timothy Walker, 44, of Freeport was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 28 in Buffalo Township, Butler County.
Tuesday — The Kwik Fill store on West Main Street Extension in Pine Township, Mercer County was cited for false alarms to agencies after police had to respond to six false alarms between November and Aug. 8.
