John Z. Galat, 77, of Franklin Township, Beaver County, died Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born May 29, 1927, in Zelienople, he was the son of Zach and Anna Popeton Galat.

Mr. Galat served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Aetna Standard Engineering Co. of Ellwood City after 35 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Garee Galat, whom he married Feb. 18, 1952; two sons, David J. Galat of Texas and Gregory A. Galat of Ambridge; a daughter, Ann E. Wehman of Koppel; and two sisters, Jenny Drabiska of Pittsburgh and Mary Sunday of Evans City. Also survived are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
