PENN TWP — Auditions are under way for the Sing Hosanna! production of "Beauty and the Beast."
Auditions for performers ages 14 and older and a child, age 6 to 13, will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. today at Sing Hosanna!, 310 W. Airport Road.
The first rehearsal for the adult ensemble of performers ages 14 and older will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Auditions are not required.
Gymnasts, who will be selected from the adult ensemble, are needed for several numbers. Costumers, set builders, painters, committee members and staff are also needed. For details, call 724-586-0042.
Reading club plans first meeting for fall
The Reading Club of Butler will host its first meeting of the club year at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 in the downstairs meeting room at the Butler Public Library, 228 N. McKean St.
The program, presented by Lu Eisler, will center on the recently published An Historical Gazetteer of Butler County, PA. The program will also include a tour of the Weir Genealogy Center.

ADAMS TWP — The Samaritan Counseling Center will host an English tea Thursday at the Johnston House on Route 228.Tea, finger sandwiches and deserts will be served at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. A Chinese auction will follow each seating.Robin Miller and her grief companion dog, O'Shea, will provide a program on how pets can help with emotional pain.For reservations, call 412-741-7430. A community roundtable to discuss prevention and support of people with mental illness and how to help these citizens remain vital and active in our community will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St.The session is open to all community members and will include a panel discussion with audience participation.Community input is needed. CRANBERRY TWP — The annual reunion of the six former Cranberry Township one-room schools will be held Sept. 8 at Plains Presbyterian Church, Franklin and Plains Church roads.The reunion will start at 1 p.m. with a buffet supper at 4 p.m. Those attending are to take table service and a covered dish.
