Campaign finance law allows individuals to give up to $2,600 to each candidate per election, or a maximum of $5,200 for the election cycle.

Political action committees, which often are dedicated to one particular issue, business, or cause, can donate up to $5,000 to each candidate for each election, or a maximum of $10,000 per cycle.
