Man accused of using racial slurs, threatening to burn building in Butler
A Butler man was charged by city police after using racial slurs and threatening to burn an apartment building, according to documents filed Thursday, March 14.
Baron J. Beichner, 50, was charged with felony ethnic intimidation, misdemeanors terroristic threats and resisting arrest, and summary public drunkenness following a disturbance on West Penn Street.
Police said they were dispatched for reports of a man threatening the residents of an apartment building. When they arrived, police said Beichner was standing at the top of a staircase and smelled of alcohol.
Documents showed Beichner would not identify himself to police, and told officers a neighbor’s dog gave him dysentery. Police said he was offered medical treatment but refused.
Two other witnesses on scene spoke with officers and disclosed that Beichner repeatedly called them racial slurs and said he would burn their home down, according to charging documents.
Police said Beichner resisted as he was placed under arrest, and yelled at officers that they were in the wrong and needed to “investigate his dysentery.”
Documents showed Beichner refused to enter the police vehicle several times and had to be placed inside by officers.
Beichner’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
