7:30 a.m. Sunday — A mini-van driven by Tyler Kristophel, 18, of Evans City struck a utility pole being used as a mailbox post along Route 8 in Center Township. Police said Kristophel drove off after the crash. He was later found and cited for hit-and-run and at least one other traffic violation.8:15 p.m. Saturday — A car driven by Mark Tortorici, 51, of Allentown and a pickup truck driven by Rintha Miller, 48, of Prospect collided on Route 38 in Center Township.Tortorici, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter with major facial and internal injuries to an unknown Pittsburgh hospital. Miller, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken with minor injuries to Butler Memorial Hospital.12:23 p.m. Saturday — An unknown driver in an unidentified gold-colored car sideswiped another car on Bonniebrook Road in Jefferson Township and did not stop following the crash.Brian Campbell, no age given, of Butler, who swerved his car to try and avoid the accident, ended up in a field. He was not injured.8:30 a.m. Saturday — A mini-van driven by Donna Gallentine, no age given, of New Castle and a car driven by Teddy Shellhammer, no age given, of Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, collided at Routes 8 and 173 in Brady Township.Shellhammer, who was not wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police said Gallentine was cited for a stop sign violation.2:45 a.m. Saturday — A motorcycle driven by Bryan Swidzinski, 25, of Butler crashed into an embankment on Protzman Road in Summit Township.2:40 a.m. Saturday — Danny Gahagan Jr., 35, of Worthington, Armstrong County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at Route 268 and Fairview Road in Petrolia.1:05 a.m. Saturday — Wesley Graham, 45, of Saxonburg was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 356 in Jefferson Township.12:55 a.m. Saturday — Walter Potochny, 54, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Route 422 and North Road in Franklin Township.6:40 p.m. Friday — Rodney Kriess, 35, of Butler swerved his sport utility vehicle to avoid a deer and struck a utility pole along Fallacker Road in Oakland Township.4:45 p.m. Friday — An unknown driver of an unidentified gray, older model van struck a car on Old Route 422 near Reeds Road in Clearfield Township, and did not stop following the crash. Doris Crouch, 79, of Fenelton was driving the car.9:10 a.m. Friday — An unknown white female in her late teens or early 20s with dark hair allegedly stole money from a purse in a vehicle at the Coopers Lake parking area in Worth Township.10:30 p.m. Thursday — Carmen Morra, 55, of Butler was arrested for allegedly assaulting his ex-wife, Sandra Morra, 41, at her Love Road home in Oakland Township.Police said Sandra Morra was treated for head injuries at Butler Memorial Hospital. Carmen Morra was arraigned on charges of simple assault and violating a protection from abuse order, and placed in the Butler County Prison on $27,500 bond.8:20 p.m. Thursday — An unknown driver of an unidentified brown, older model Mercury Cougar struck two cars on Route 68 in Connoquenessing Township, and did not stop following the crash. Nancy Dickey, 51, of Butler and Jacqueline Karnes, 40, of Renfrew were driving the cars.6:25 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by James Schumacher, 74, of OilCity, Venango County, hit a ditch, three mailboxes and then hit another ditch before flipping over on Route 8 near Branchton Road in Slippery Rock Township.Police said Schumacher, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.He was cited for an undisclosed traffic violation.Thursday — An undisclosed amount of scrap metal was stolen between 10 a.m. Wednesday and 2 p.m. Thursday from Triple Creek Service, Inc., on Route 19 in Muddy Creek Township.
10:20 p.m. Friday — James Lee Anthony, 59, of Templeton was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck a utility pole along Lawsonham Road, about one-half mile east of Rimersburg in Madison Township, Clarion County.Wednesday — Someone broke the chain on a fence and stole aluminum antennas and 40 feet of copper wire from Comcast's old tower site off Shannon Tripple Road in Toby Township.
