MOUNT UNION — The Pennsylvania Game Commission euthanized a bear cub after it scratched a girl who was apparently trying to coax the animal back into the woods.

This happened Thursday in Mount Union, Huntingdon County.

The cub climbed a tree but was tranquilized and brought down. The animal was then euthanized. Commission rules require animals be tested for rabies if they attack humans. That can only be done after the animal has died.
