Cruz homers in Pirates victory

BRADENTON, Fla. — Pirate shortstop Oneil Cruz hit his first home run of the spring in his team’s 6-5 Grapefruit League victory over Toronto on Tuesday.

Tsung-She Cheng and Liover Peguero also homered for the Pirates. Andrew McCutcheon singled in his first plate appearance of the spring and Jared Jones tossed two scoreless innings.

The Pirates travel to Sarasota to play the Orioles at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday.
