John Jenkins Jr.
John Kenneth “Ken” Jenkins Jr., 88, of Butler passed away Monday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on Oct. 19, 1926, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John Kenneth Jenkins Sr. and Anna Blicha Jenkins.
He was a former meat cutter at Cutaway Market in Butler. He also owned and operated Ken's Meridian Market for more than 20 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. Ken was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Pittsburgh Banjo Club. He was a life member of the Meridian Veterans Club.
He is survived by two sons, John “Jack” Jenkins III of Butler and Gary Jenkins and his wife, Donna of Butler; three brothers, Jim Jenkins of Oregon, Joe Jenkins and his wife, Joann, of Butler, and Michael T. “Mickey” Jenkins and his wife, Darlene of Butler; three sisters, Deloris Ann “Lori” Henes of Montana, Patricia Elaine “Patti” Doyle and her husband, Derwood, of Kentucky and Mary Margaret Gravning and her husband, Dave, of Montana; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Lucille Rivers Jenkins, who passed away June 28, 2004, and two brothers.
JENKINS — Friends of John Kenneth “Ken” Jenkins Jr., who died Monday, June 8, 2015, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Avenue, Butler.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.Members of the St. Paul Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:35 a.m. Friday at the church to recite the rosary.The family will host a luncheon at the Meridian Veterans Club following the funeral.Visit www.martinfh.net for more information.
