Dianne Burke
Dianne Lockhart Burke, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, at the age of 75, surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 7, 1948. Raised in Butler, she graduated from Butler Area Senior High School in 1966. She earned a bachelor's degree in social work from Allegheny College, Meadville, Pa., and a master's degree from Boston College. She had a private practice helping families, couples and children. She lived in Wayland, Mass.
An avid reader, world traveler and yoga enthusiast, she will be remembered for her warm smile, contagious laughter and adventurous spirit. Dianne cherished her summers on Wellfleet beaches, swimming and windsurfing. She enjoyed dinners with friends, independent movies, advocating for human rights and reading books to her grandchildren. Dianne taught her family to love with all their hearts, treat everyone with respect and to always appreciate a sunset and a salad.
Dianne is survived by her husband, John Hamilton Burke; her daughters, Sarah Burke Duff (Dave) and Emily Burke Waters (Asa); her grandchildren, Riley, Jackson, Charlotte and Clara; and her siblings, Judy Black Deahl, William Alexander Lockhart and Merry Black Snyder.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Carol Black Maize, James Graham Lockhart and James Milton Black.
BURKE — A celebration of life for Dianne Lockhart Burke, who died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, will be held Sunday, March 10, in Sudbury, Mass.
