Moraine State Park, located on the western edge of Butler County, has several activities planned for March.

The park has scheduled a Winter Hike for 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, along the North Country Trail. Participants should gather at the North Country trailhead, located near the bike rental parking lot at the North Shore.

A previous Winter Hike, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 28, was canceled due to inclement weather.

March 16 will feature a Songbirds educator workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the DCNR Western Region Conference Room on Park Road, adjacent to the park. This is an activity for educators who “wish to engage children in hands-on science and environmental learning through the world of birds.”

The conference room also will be the site of two “Exploring Eclipses” programs on March 23, one at 10:30 a.m. and one at 1 p.m. This is an education program on the history and nature of eclipses to prepare participants for the North American solar eclipse on April 8. Participants will receive a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses.
