Boy Scouts to applaud supporters at reception

PENN TOWNSHIP — The Moraine Trails Council Boy Scouts will applaud two community supporters at the Good Scout Award reception at 6 p.m. Sept. 25 at Conley Resort.

Diehl Automotive Group of Butler will receive the Glacier Ridge district’s award for Company of the Year, while Cranberry Township businessman Ken Kucel will get the personal award.

“The Grossmans (of Diehl Automotive Group) are involved in just about every community organization you could think of,” said Irv Gable, Glacier Ridge district director. “(Kucel) has been a solid rock and foundation for making sure Scouting thrives in today’s society.”

This is the fourth year for the awards, Gable said. The committee selects one individual and one business based on community involvement and standing.

“This is just our way of thanking them for their entire community involvement,” Gable said. “Not just Scouting. It’s really about the whole person.”

Proceeds from the reception will fund local Boy Scout programs.
