James W. Mortimer, 69, of Butler died peacefully at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Born in Butler, Nov. 11, 1936, he was the owner of the Meridian Inn from 1973 until it was renamed J.D.'s Pub. He then was a co-owner until it was sold in 1998. He was also a licensed real estate agent with Prudential Preferred Realty.

He enjoyed golf and hunting and will always be remembered for his kind and loving ways.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Mortimer, whom he married in January 1966; four children, Kelly (Dennis) Noto and two grandsons, Corey and Tyler of Butler; Dr. Michael J. Mortimer and grandson, Evan James, of Blacksburg, Va.; Shannon L. Mortimer and granddaughters, Lily and M. Shae Cogley of Butler; and Dr. James P. (Lori) Mortimer and granddaughter, Aleksandra, of Butler.

Also surviving are his mother, Gertrude Hempfling Cherry; two brothers, Robert (Bev) Mortimer and Kim (Jeannie) Cherry, both of Butler; and a sister, Susan (Jerry) Holden of New York.

<B>MORTIMER</B> — Family and friends of James W. Mortimer, who died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, are invited to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday at the North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Extension. The Rev. David Brown will officiate.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Music Ministry at North Main Street Church of God.Cremation services are being provided by the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>; and information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
