Butler sweeps in XC

Seneca Valley's Rachel Summers (25) celebrates a first-set during the Raiders' 3-0 girls volleyball win Tuesday night at Butler.

Butler's boys took each of the first five places Tuesday as the Golden Tornado swept a cross country meet from Hampton.

The boys defeated the Talbots 15-40, the girls winning by a 27-28 score. Both Butler teams are 3-2 on the season.

He was followed by teammates James Hendell, Landon Wilson and Gus Harmon.The girls race was won by A-C Valley's Drew Whitcomb with a time of 23:49.

Meah Ielase dropped 17 kills and added 10 digs in A-C Valley's 3-1 win at home over Moniteau.The Falcons, who won the match by scores of 25-13, 13-25, 25-16 and 25-19, also received nine kills from Bella Ielase and six aces courtesy of Paige Klingler.Jenna Stefanacci's night included 21 assists, 15 digs and 14 points for A-C Valley (4-0, 6-1).Moniteau statistics were not provided.Brookville 3, Karns City 1 — The Raiders downed the Gremlins in four sets — 25-21, 25-20, 17-25, 25-23.KC's Emma Johns rounded out with four aces, eight kills, 15 assists, and six digs.Rosie Carden led the team with 16 assists and Ava Fox had 18 digs.Seneca Valley 3, Butler 0 — The Raiders won this Section 1-4A match on the road, 25-21, 25-18, 25-14.Kaela Malis had four kills, a block and three digs for Butler (2-5, 2-4), which hosts Fox Chapel Thursday for Senior Night.Knoch 3, Highlands 0 — The Knights (1-5, 2-7) won their second straight match as Karlee Buterbaugh had seven kills and three blocks, Madi Gardner 11 points, Brynnae Coe 10 points and 17 assists.Knoch won by scores of 25-11, 25-8, 25-18.In Monday's 3-1 win over Deer Lakes, Sierra Mock had 15 kills and four blocks as the Knights won 22-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-18.Brynne Smith had 12 service points and 20 digs, Nicole Critchlow 14 service points and 38 digs for Knoch.Freeport 3, Armstrong 1 — Cassidy Dell led this Monday victory with 12 kills, 20 assists and 19 service points.Erica Lampus had 12 kills and 15 points, Sydney Selker eight kills and Ava Soilis 22 digs.The Yellowjackets (6-1, 8-1) also received four kills and nine points from Alaina Whitlinger.

Lily Karsman scored North Catholic's lone goal as the Trojanettes lost for the first time this season, 2-1 to Avonworth.The Trojanettes (4-1, 8-1) host Ambridge Thursday.Boys SoccerMyles McCully scored the lone goal of the game in Karns City's 1-0 win over Clarion-Limestone.Adam Smith assisted on the goal, scored in the first half.Slippery Rock 6, Conneaut 0 — Nick Kingerski tallied three goals for the Rockets, who dominated in this road win Monday.Cullen Birkes scored a goal and chipped in two assists for Slippery Rock (5-2-2).David Magliocca and Kaleb Kuhn both had one goal and one assist while Cole Kovacik notched an assist.Connor Wallace and Josh Book combined for the shutout with four saves.

Knoch pitched a shutout — again.For the second straight day, the Knights scored a 5-0 victory while winning all 60 games in the match.
