Maxine Irwin Norris of Shelbourne Assisted Living Center in Butler, will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 31 in the library of Shelbourne Assisted Living Center.

The former Maxine Buttenfield was born Oct. 27, 1914, in Hays. She married Floyd Irwin on June 25, 1933. He is deceased. She later married Emmett Norris on Sept. 26, 1986. He is also deceased.

She has three children, Nancy Mathews of Valencia, Sallie Miller of Butler and Janet Thompson of Slippery Rock; and two step-children, Eileen Maier of Crown Point, Ind., and David Norris of Valencia.

She also has 11 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Norris was a homemaker and has been a member of Glade Run Church in Cooperstown for 17 years. She enjoyed helping others and was an active member of the Middlesex Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years.
