Moniteau girls win wild game at North Clarion
Catherine Kelly added yet another memorable performance with a 38-point effort in Moniteau’s 65-61 overtime girls basketball victory over host North Clarion on Thursday.
Kelly made 13 field goals, including four 3-pointers.
Allie Pry added five points, five rebounds and four steals for the Warriors (16-5) while Cheyenne Curl contributed six points and seven boards.
North Clarion (16-5) was led by 32 points from Lily Homan.
Moniteau trailed 43-30 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Wolves 25-12 to force the extra period.
The Warriors were 21 of 32 from the free throw line, the Wolves 18 of 34.

The Falcon Knights (2-18) were paced by Maddy Dehart’s 17 points, including three treys.
Boys Basketball
Mars closed the regular season with a 74-48 loss at Moon (18-3, 10-0), undefeated champion of Section 4-5A.
The Planets (10-12, 4-6), who have qualified for the WPIAL playoffs, got 20 points from Ryan Ceh and 10 from Remi Black.
Neighborhood Academy 69, Summit Academy 26 — The Knights (4-12, 2-8) closed their season with this section loss.
Moniteau 60, A-C Valley 40 — Chason Rugg scored 16 points for the Warriors, who led by 15 points at halftime of this Wednesday night game. Andrew Zepeda and Ayden Jackson scored 12 points each.
Jay Clover scored 23 points for the Falcons.
Wrestling
Ana Malovich, Kaitlynn Plopi and Anastasia Manchester had pins for Butler, but the Golden Tornado girls dropped a 60-18 decision to Hickory on Wednesday.

Rifle
Butler’s Grace Seybert and Madison Krainbucher placed ninth and 10th, respectively, at the WPIAL Rifle Individual Championships at the Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen’s Club. Both shot 100-8x.
Luke Frazier finished 17th for the Golden Tornado while Alyssa Miller was 24th and Shayna Fleeger 31st. Penn-Trafford’s Carlee Valenta won the championship, followed by Brooke Fanala of Hempfield and Riley Dunn of McGuffey.
Swimming
Raely FaJohn and Mollie Massella were both part of wins in four separate events as Slippery Rock’s girls swimming team defeated Oil City, 110-60.
FaJohn had individual victories in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races, while Massella was first in the 50 and 100 freestyle swims. Both were part of a pair of relay triumphs, as well.
Tessa Szymanski touched the wall first in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly events. She was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay team.
On the boys’ side, Cody Hartle (100 butterfly) had the Rockets’ only solo win in a 97-33 loss to the Oilers.
