Scoop looks to build from perfect week
It took much longer than I prefer, but finally, my picks were perfect last week.
Flawless in 11 games, my record for the season now stands at 64-12.
But I'm not taking a bow for there's more work to be done. Ten games this week and some of them are really tough to call. Despite this, I plan to shine in Week 9.
Franklin at Butler — The Golden Tornado took a punch to the gut last week, several to be honest. Now it's time for them to deliver a few themselves.
I'm feeling a big game for running back Cooper Baxter.
Score: Butler 43-7
Seneca Valley at Mt. Lebanon — The Blue Devils have handled all challengers to this point with little resistance.
SV will keep this one close for the most part, but Mt. Lebanon will remain undefeated.
Score: Mt. Lebanon 29-16
Hampton at Knoch — The Talbots are undefeated and since two close calls against Shaler and Armstrong earlier this season, they are beating opponents by an average margin of 31 points.
The run of dominance continues.
Score: Hampton 42-13
Indiana at Mars — The Planets endured some dark days earlier this fall, but here they are, still with playoff hopes with two games to go.
Quarterback Rafael Bartley has played much better the last two weeks. He and running back Evan Wright will lead this win.
Score: Mars 23-17
North Catholic at Freeport — In the Yellowjackets, North will encounter the best defense it will have faced this season.
But Joey Prentice, Jack Fennell, Kyle Tipinski and Co. will score enough to keep the Trojans unbeaten.
Score: North Catholic 23-13
Bradford at Karns City — The Gremlins are riding high and the winless Owls will get run over Friday.
Score: Karns City 44-8
Moniteau at Punxsutawney — It's been a rough season for the Warriors, but they will take out their frustration on the Chucks in this battle of one-win teams.
Score: Moniteau 30-18
Slippery Rock at Girard — The Rockets are a late touchdown by Hickory away from being undefeated while Girard is winless.
This is an easy one.
Score: Slippery Rock 40-12
Redbank Valley at Union/A-C Valley — This figures to be a great game involving one-loss teams. I might just fly up to Rimersburg to catch the action.
The Bulldogs' offensive balance will lead to a win, barely.
Score: Redbank Valley 22-20
Summit Academy at Serra Catholic — Serra's undefeated season rolls on against the Knights.
Score: Serra Catholic 44-18
