Hazel L. Yahn

Yahn

On Friday evening, Jan. 26, 2024, Hazel L. Yahn, 92, of Harrisville, left this world quietly and humbly just as she had moved through it.

Hazel was born in New Castle on May 3, 1931. She was one of 12 children born to John and Elsie (Cunningham) Grinnen. She married Edwin D. Yahn on March 9, 1951; he preceded her in death on Dec. 22, 2022.

She was very proud to be a native of Wampum, Pa., and a graduate of Wampum High School.

She was considered to be a kind, dear woman by family, brothers, sisters, neighbors, and the many friends she treasured.

Hazel was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Harrisville American Legion Post 852 Auxiliary.

She was an accomplished pie and cookie baker, an avid golfer, a talented quilter, and a well-seasoned shopper.

The little things in life made her happy. She was fond of flowers, receiving greeting cards, gardening, reading the newspaper, and listening to records. She liked to walk, swim and paint ceramics. She loved country and gospel music.

She and her beloved husband, Ed, spent time together camping, motorcycling, snowmobiling, dancing, traveling, picnicking, and frequently going to The Grand Ole Opry.

Hazel enjoyed having a job and talking with anyone.

She was first employed by Isaly’s in Wampum, and later as a cashier at the former A&P Supermarket and Kroger’s, both of Grove City.

Hazel was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.

She will be truly missed by a daughter, Deborah (Chester) Glenn; a son, Edwin L. Yahn; two grandsons, Ryan (Rayna) and Nathan Glenn; two great-grandsons, Ethan and Noah Glenn; and two sisters, Lynda Grinnen, and Judy Butera.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, James D. Yahn; two sisters, Ethel Mae Harper and Jean Kirkwood; and seven brothers, John, James, Robert, Ralph, Walter, Jerry and Lynn Grinnen.

YAHN — Visitation for friends and family of Hazel L. Yahn, who died Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, will be held from 10:30 a.m. until noon Friday at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

A funeral service will follow at noon Friday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Crestview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 220 S. Broad St., Grove City, PA 16127 or The Trust for The National Mall, Korean War Veterans Memorial at nationalmall.org.
