Postal inspectors investigating identity theft, bank fraud
State police and the United States Postal Inspection Service are investigating a bank fraud case in which a Connoquenessing woman’s identity was used to extract thousands of dollars from two banks.
Police said an unknown woman entered Northwest Bank locations in Lock Haven and Bellefonte and withdrew a total of $20,000 using a fake passport and Social Security card bearing a local woman’s name.
The United States Postal Inspection Service is investigating the theft. Anyone with information is asked to call the service at 1-800-275-8777.
