Walter Bird Turner Jr.

Walter Bird "Bud" Turner Jr., 86, of Butler, died Wednesday at his home.

Born Dec. 18, 1922, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Walter Bird Turner Sr. and the late Helen (Jennings) Turner.

Walter was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic church.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a sales manager for Castle Rubber for 40 years. He was a former member of the Butler Country Club, the Butler Elks and the Butler Rotary. He enjoyed playing golf.

He is survived by three sons, Walter Turner III and his wife, Vickie, of Butler, John Turner and his companion, Karen Frye, of Butler, and Thomas Turner of Butler; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; two sisters, Sally McKelvey of Youngstown, Ohio, and Helen Grace McNeish of San Marino, Calif.; and a brother, Dr. John Jacob Turner and his wife, Carolyn, of Youngstown, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Gladys L. (Gage) Turner, who died March 25, 1993.
