Nicklas

Bernice Nicklas of Butler celebrated her 90th birthday Sunday with an open house at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Butler Township.

The former Bernice Hooks was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Adrian. She married Cassius Nicklas on Oct. 4, 1942. He is deceased.

She has a daughter, Carolyn Johnson of Dallas, Texas. She also has a granddaughter.

Mrs. Nicklas is a retired beautician and homemaker.

She is a charter member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she served as an ordained deacon and Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Nicklas is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 45, is a former president of Meridian Rainbow 94 and is a blue ribbon winner at the Butler County Farm Show.

She enjoys sharing flowers from the garden with her church and friends who are shut-ins. She also enjoys traveling.
