The state Department of Banking and Securities is warning of financial scams occurring as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Schemes include:

Raising money for the manufacture of medical protection and treatment equipment, vaccines or miracle cures

“Safe” investments with “guaranteed returns” tied to gold, oil and gas, real estate and other commodities

“Get rich quick” schemes with quick returns to pay for rent, utilities and other expenses

Scams targeting retirees and senior citizens that claim to quickly and safely recoup losses to retirement portfolios.
