The Pittsburgh Three Rivers 17 Carson volleyball team captured first place in the silver division of the Family First Sportspark Tournament in Erie Sunday.

Team members are Christina Farmer, Meghan Studds, Hannah Williams, Ashley Grooms, Mackenzie Huey, Erin Pennington, Karly Burns and Ellie Burns. The team is coached by Jodi Burns.

Butler's Schnur on national team

Butler graduate Meghan Schnur is on the United States women's soccer national team.

Schnur earned a starting spot at left defense and competed in the Americans' 1-0 victory over Mexico Wednesday night.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin is home resting following surgery on his left knee.Dr. Patrick Connor repaired the anterior cruciate ligament in Hamlin's left knee Wednesday morning. Hamlin tore his ACL playing basketball in January.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Kern County prosecutors say no charges will be filed against Arizona Cardinals linebacker Joey Porter in connection with his recent arrest on suspicion of DUI and resisting arrest.Prosecutor Mark Pafford told The Bakersfield Californian that the district attorney's office does not believe there's a reasonable likelihood that a jury would find Porter guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
