Bethany Koch and Andrea Mortimer were perfect complements to each other on the basketball court for the Union HighSchool girls basketball team.

They shared the basketball and the scoring and rebounding responsibility for the Damsels, who finished the season 29-2 with a loss in the PIAA Class A semifinals.

Now, they are sharing something else.

Koch and Mortimer were named District 9 co-MVPs Sunday afternoon.

Their coach, Josh Meeker, was named the coach of the year in the district.

Koch, a senior, averaged 17.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per game for Union. Mortimer, also a senior, chimed in at 16.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.

Koch finished her career with 1,311 points. She is a two-time all-district player, earning a second-team selection last season.

Mortimer finished her standout career with 1,541 points, fourth in school history. She is a three-time all-district player, one of eight players to earn that distinction. She is also just the fourth player to be named to the first team twice.

Both Koch and Mortimer made the Butler Eagle first team.

The third cog in Union's potent offense, junior Tiffany Corle, was named to the third team all-District 9.

Moniteau seniors Kristin Baronetski and Alyssa Deal were named to the district's second team and Karns City junio Haley Callihan earned third-team honors.
