It was a good week for things that fly.

Moniteau's Tyler Armagost channeled Dan Marino, throwing five touchdown passes against Clarion-Limestone.

The Eagles won, and Billy Bair and Shane Kaclik, two Mars running backs who can certainly fly across the ground, gained a combined 362 yards and scored six touchdowns for the Planets.

Oh, yeah, and I went 10-1.

Let's fly into the picks for Week 2.

Knoch 23, Ringgold 20 — The Knights put up a gallant effort against Montour, falling by a single score.The key is Alex Whisler, who was held to 40 yards. Bust him loose for triple figures againstRinggold and the Knights will be doing the victory dance.•

Norwin 31, Butler 8 — Wow. Talk about your inauspicious debuts. Butler first-year coach Jeff McAnallen and his team took it on the chin against Kiski in the season opener.The Golden Tornado were more like a golden light breeze.It won't get any easier this week against Norwin, which will complete its Butler County double dip after dispatching Seneca Valley last week.•

Penn-Trafford 23, Seneca Valley 13 — Wow. Talk about inauspicious debuts — woops. I'm repeating myself. But in many ways, the Raiders' struggles mirror that of their rival to the north.James Daniels has an ankle. Well, actually the Raiders' running back has two of them, but only one of them is healthy. Still, he will play.Seneca Valley is improving, but not enough to overcome a long road trip.•

Mars 30, Riverside 16 — Everyone knows who Billy Bair is. But Mars' opponents might need to brush up on the dudes named Shane Kaclik and John Brake.The Planets are not a one-trick pony.A win in this one give Mars an early stranglehold on the section.•

Karns City 19, Hickory 17 — The Gremlins always find a way to win.•

Moniteau 27, St. Marys 13 — Air Armagost was in full display last week. It should be again in this one.•

Slippery Rock 21, Erie East 12 — The Rockets put up a brave fight against gifted Grove City. East's lone win last year came at the expense of Slippery Rock. It won't happen again.•

Kittanning 25, Freeport 10 — The Yellowjackets' kiddie corps just aren't there yet.•

Redbank Valley 31, Union 13 — I haven't lost my faith in the Knights, even though they handed me my lone loss last week. But the Bulldogs are too much for Union.•

Clarion-Limestone 25, A-C Valley 6 — These two teams have so few players they might be grabbing people out of the stands to play. C-L's bodies are a little better than A-C's bodies in this one.•

Grove City 33, Corry 11 — The Eagles offense can be as scary as their bus ride to Corry High will be. The Beavers shut out Grove City last year. Revenge is sweet. Uh, oh, Corry.•

Summit Academy 22, Neshannock 13 — Summit 2-0? Believe it.
