William and Doris Darrell of Mars celebrated 50 years of marriage with a family dinner Monday at their home.

The former Doris Simpson married Darrell on July 1, 1955, at St. John's Lutheran Church of Mars.

They have eight children, Lynda Kerry and Mike Darrell, both of Butler; William Darrell Jr. of Las Vegas; Pamela Kalesek of Penn Township; Terry Darrell of South Carolina; Douglas Darrell and Jeff Darrell, both of Mars; and Cindy Schroder of Middlesex Township.

They also have 12 grandchildren.

Darrell is a retired truck driver.

Mrs. Darrell is a homemaker.

The couple belongs to St. John's Lutheran Church.
