Cranmer-Hart leads Slippery Rock's PIAA track contingent
It was another day at the office for Slippery Rock High School's Erin Cranmer-Hart.
The senior won both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs Wednesday at the District 10 Class AAA finals at Hickory High School, advancing to next weekend's PIAA meet in both.
Her time in the 1,600 of 5 minutes, 9.47 seconds set a new school and meet record. She won the 3,200 with a mark of 11:19.55.
Cranmer-Hart was also part of the Rockets' 4x800 relay team that also advanced to states with a school-record time of 9:31.38. Team members included Casey McCaffrey, Robin Craig and Janelle Hartzell.
Also setting school records were McCaffrey, who finished second in the 800 run at 2:22.12 and Tricia North, who was sixth in the pole vault at an even nine feet.
The efforts helped Slippery Rock finish third at the meet behind McDowell and General McLane.
"It was a great day for our kids," said Slippery Rock coach Mike Kish. "I'd say about 90 percent of our girls turned in personal bests. And we came out of it with four new school records.
"You can't ask for anything better than that from a district meet," Kish added.
The Slippery Rock boys will compete in the Class AA meet Saturday at Hickory.
