Knoch's Black 16th at invite

Knoch's Artie Black finished 19th overall at the Tri-State Cross Country Invitational at Slippery Rock University Thursday.

While he was there, some of his teammates were competing against three other teams in the final regular-season meet.

The Knoch boys defeated Kittanning 21-37, Laurel 23-38 and Elderton 15-50 to finish the dual meet season at 13-9.

In the girls meet, Knoch (7-14) defeated Elderton 15-50 and Laurel 23-44 while Kittanning couldn't field a full team.

Slippery Rock 3, Wilmington 1 -Jess Kelly had 20 kills, Hillary Pritts had 19 digs and 11 kills and Sarah Yakima had five points, seven digs and six kills to lead the Rockets to a 25-19, 30-28, 21-25, 25-22 win Thursday.Erica Gabreski had eight points, five aces and 10 digs and Jess Speicher had 22 assists and 11 digs for the Rockets.Slippery Rock (7-4) plays at Greenville next Thursday.Karns City 3, Forest 2 -The Gremlins prevailed in this KSAC match by scores of 26-28, 25-14, 23-25, 25-19, 15-13.Julie Baptiste and Jen Morrow led the Gremlins' (3-9) attack.Karns City also won the junior varsity match, 2-0.Keystone 3, Moniteau 1 -The Warriors fell by scores of 23-25, 21-25, 25-20 and 16-25.Sarah Bagdes-Canning tallied five aces and three blocks and Melanie Ciochetto had 15 spikes and 11 kills.Keystone also won the JV match, 2-0.Seneca Valley 3, Plum 0 -The Raiders won their regular season finale by scores of 25-13, 25-6 and 25-8. They now await the start of the WPIAL Class AAA playoffs.
