Rockets swimmers break records
Slippery Rock High School ended its swimming season recently at the District 10 Class AA meet at Penn State-Behrend.
The Rocket boys placed 12th out of 16 teams while the girls were 14th out of 17.
All three girls relay teams established school records while the boys 200-yard medley relay unit did the same.
Vicky Kosiorek, Katie Riggs, Britley Raabe and Lauren Tibbens placed 12th in the 200 medley relay with a school-record time of 2 minutes, 12.90 seconds. The same quartet set a school mark in the 400 freestyle relay, placing 11th in 4:27.71.
Janine Maranche, Whitney Snyder, Kosiorek and Riggs placed 14th in the 200 freestyle relay in 2:01.46, another school record.
On the boys side, Jared Mack, Peter Eilenfeldt, Matt Gilliam and Robert Whitt finished 10th in the 200 medley relay in a school-record time of 2:03.88. Mack, Kevin Finch, Gilliam and Whitt placed 10th in the 200 freestyle relay and 12th in the 400 freestyle relay.
Individually, Tibbens placed 21st in the 100 backstroke with a season-best effort of 1:13.43. Mack was 11th and Finch 25th in the 50 freestyle. Finch also was 18th in the 100 freestyle.
