SR takes broom to Sharon
Marlena Lipko served 10 aces and Cursty McClure tallied 10 kills as the Slippery Rock girls volleyball team swept Sharon by scores of 25-5, 25-6 and 25-9 on Thursday.
Jess Speicher offered seven service points for the Rockets (6-3), Kristen Staugh had 18 assists, Amy Siwik had seven points and five kills, and Erica Gabreski added seven points and nine kills.
North Allegheny 3, Butler 2 -
The Golden Tornado dropped this tight match to the Tigers by scores of 25-21, 13-25, 25-23, 17-25 and 5-15.
Abby Herrit tallied 15 kills, Amy Achesinski had 14 kills and five blocks and Kelley Crater contributed eight digs for Butler (2-7 in section play).
Freeport 3, West Shamokin 0 -
The Yellowjackets (14-0, 12-0) remained perfect as Stephanie Leslie had 34 assists, Katlyn Macurdy had six kills, Marissa DeSalvo tallied eight kills and five blocks, Kelly Acre managed 13 service points and five kills and Dana Turley had eight kills.
Moniteau 3, Venango Catholic 0 -
The Warriors (7-5) clinched a District 9 playoff berth with wins of 25-7, 25-12 and 25-19.
Kendra Hall totaled nine assists and four kills, Kristin Baronetski had four assists, four digs and three kills and Haley McFeaters had three kills.
Moniteau's junior varsity team won, 2-0.

The Gremlins (6-5) were defeated by scores of 25-8, 25-10 and 25-8.
Karns City also lost the JV match, 2-0.
Slippery Rock 5, Kennedy Catholic 1 -Britney Freiters and Jence Rhoads each scored two goals and Catherine Fodor added one for the Rockets (10-0).
Butler 5, Hampton 1 -The Golden Tornado (17-2, 9-2) won after receiving one goal apiece from Jake Hoffman, Taylor Blose, Ben Horner, K.J. Ludlum and Doug Moran.Seneca Valley 5, North Hills 1 -Taylor Smith, R.J. Case, Matt Jones, Bobby Albrecht and Steve Staniland all scored for the Raiders (12-3, 10-1), who will host Butler for the section title Monday night.Mars 6, Deer Lakes 0 -Jon Natale led the Planets to a win on Senior Recognition Night with two goals and an assist.Also scoring goals for Mars were Andrew Dillner, Shawn Mellor, Mark Dressel and Brendon Miller.
Slippery Rock freshman Jenna Rinker shot a 104 Thursday afternoon in the first-round of the District 10 Championships, held at Riverside Golf Course in Cambridge Springs.Rinker miss the cut for the second round by seven strokes.
