CHICAGO — Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Ryan Doumit was out of the lineup Wednesday night against the Chicago White Sox with a slight concussion.

Doumit was hit in the mask by foul balls three times during Tuesday's 16-5 loss to the White Sox and is expected to miss at least two days. A trip to the disabled list was unlikely, manager John Russell said.

ALAMEDA, Calif. — The Oakland Raiders expect new receiver Javon Walker to be ready for training camp when he recovers from injuries incurred during a robbery in Las Vegas last weekend.Raiders coach Lane Kiffin finally spoke to Walker by phone on Wednesday morning, more than two days after Walker was discovered unconscious and beaten on a back street near the Las Vegas Strip following a night of partying. Walker was released from a hospital after treatment for a concussion and facial injuries.

NEW WILMINGTON— Four area football players are among the 2008 recruiting class at Westminster College.Defensive back Tony Andreassi of Butler, a second team all-conference performer and team captain, is joining the Titans. Two Mars graduates — defensive lineman and three-year letterman Ed Gaw and offensive lineman Ryan Johnston — are joining him.Offensive lineman Jordan Zabo, a Mars resident and North Allegheny graduate, is joining Westminster as well.

Jason Fitzpatrick of Valencia captured the boys 15-16 division of the King's Restaurants Junior Golf Tournament at Valley Green & Country Club Wednesday.Fitzpatrick carded a 2-under par 70, one stroke over runner-up Christopher Cline.Mara Shingleton of Butler placed fifth in the girls 16-18 division by firing an 82, five shots off the pace of champion Haygen Mowder of Martins Ferry, Ohio.
