COUNTYHarmony Museum, 218 Mercer St., Harmony, has museum tours that include the 1809 main museum building and wine cellar and a neighboring early 19th century house, both built by the communal Harmony Society, and a Mennonite log house, offered from 1 to 4 p.m. daily except when the museum is closed Mondays and holidays. REGIONThe annual miniature railroad display in Emlenton is open weekends in January. The layout is open from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at Donaldson Motors, 714 River Ave. The main layout is HO-scale and covers 60 square feet. There also are three 4- by 8-foot displays featuring Lionel, Marx, American Flyer and Thomas the Tank Engine along with miniature train engines, cars and trucks. PITTSBURGHCarnegie Science Center next to Heinz Field on the North Side will host Locomotion Weekend on Saturday and Sunday featuring displays and activities from model train associations and hobbyists. Visitors can take their own model trains for a free checkup by the “Loco Doctor,” which includes basic repairs, cleaning and oiling. All activities are included with general admission of $18.95 for adults and $11.95 for children ages 3 to 12.
