John Kocher
John W. Kocher, 69, of Butler, passed away at Western Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation, in Temple, Texas, on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023.
Born Feb. 26, 1954, in Butler, he was the son of the late John and Florence (Shakley) Kocher.
John was a 1973 graduate of Butler High School, and then went on to work at Pullman Standard before moving to Texas in 1983. He worked as a truck driver for two different companies, which led him into the positions of production coordinator and driver manager. Eventually he settled in Duncanville, Texas, and enjoyed spending time refereeing and coaching soccer for the Duncanville Soccer Association, as well as participating in the Duncanville Community Theater. In 2017, he finished his career with Stevens Transport and decided to move back to Butler.
He is survived by his daughter, Katelyn Kocher; his two sisters, Rhonda (Neal) Jarrett and Kathryn Kocher; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Kocher; and his sister, Sheila Uber.
KOCHER — Friends of John W. Kocher, who died Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, will be received from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. A funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation, with the Rev. Sang Hak Lee, of the First United Methodist Church of Butler, officiating.
