2 motorists injured Friday in separate vehicle crashes
CRANBERRY TWP — The township police are investigating a pair of crashes that sent two people to hospitals on Friday.
Police were called to Commonwealth Drive at about 8:30 a.m. for a two-vehicle accident involving an SUV and a sedan. Sgt. Chuck Mascellino of the township police said the SUV rear-ended the car as it attempted to pull into the driveway of a business.
The driver of the sedan, who was not identified, was taken by Cranberry EMS to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with undisclosed injuries.
Officials with the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company at the scene said the driver, who was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, was conscious and alert when taken to the hospital.
The driver of the SUV was not identified.
At 8:55 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a second two-vehicle accident on Route 19 involving a 1-ton pickup truck and 1-ton dump truck.
The crash took place in the southbound lanes, immediately north of the intersection of Rowan and Ogle View roads.
Mascellino said the pickup truck rear-ended the dump truck, spinning both vehicles around. The driver of the pickup truck was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Neither driver in the second crash was identified as police continue their investigation.
