Blair Weitzel
Blair “Weasel” L. Weitzel, 77, of Portersville, passed away peacefully late Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his family at his home.
Born Aug. 12, 1946, in Butler, he was the son of the late Clair and Eleanor Gallagher Weitzel.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, proudly serving his country from 1965 to 1968.
After 38 years, Weasel retired from the former Armco Butler Works in 2003, where he had worked in maintenance, as a crane operator, served as a union rep, and volunteered to do a lot of Founder’s Day projects.
Blair was on many golfing and bowling leagues, including duckpin bowling, in both Butler and the Zelienople areas. He will be remembered for organizing his annual “Weasel Open Outing” for 17 years at Yankee Run Golf Course in Ohio. He enjoyed playing poker and also belonged to the Moose.
He is survived by his children, Tracy (Stephen) Leslie of Butler and Victoria (Shawn) Voynick of Butler; two granddaughters, Brooke and Hope Weisenstein; his fiancée, Bernice Bogan of Butler; sister, Marcia (Ken) Parton of Slippery Rock; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ronald Weitzel, Delores Lefebvre and Roger Weitzel.
WEITZEL — Visitation for Blair “Weasel” L. Weitzel, who died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at RAISLEY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 387 Main St., Prospect.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dana Opp, pastor of the Portersville Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler.
