Pete Mutmansky
Pete M. Mutmansky, 89, of Butler died Friday at his home.
Born Oct. 9, 1917, in Ralph, Fayette County, he was the son of Martin and Maria Valent Mutmansky.
He had been a machinist in the Boat Builders Division of the Dravo Corp. in Pittsburgh, and he was a member of the Ship Builders Local 61, Pittsburgh.
Mr. Mutmansky was a five-time State Senior Billiards Champion, a skilled woodworker, a self-taught musician and a gifted singer.
He was a member of Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church in Pittsburgh and the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Republic.
He loved nature, was a wonderful gardener and could fix anything. He also was devoted to his family.
He is survived by five children, Jan Mutmansky and his wife, Diane, of Slate College, Marybeth, wife of Eddie Greene, of Bronx, N.Y., Robert W. Mutmansky and his wife, Sylvia, of West Mifflin, Margie Mutmansky and her partner, Jim Brennan, of Denver, Colo., and Anna Grace Mutmansky of Butler; a brother, John McNansky and his wife, Dorothy, of Washington, Pa.; a sister, Caroline Safko of South Hills; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica Vangor Mutmansky; a son, Peter John Mutmansky, who died in 1992; sisters, Agnes Zatlokovicz, Elizabeth Romano, Mary Tozzo, Anne O'Dell, Cecelia Torrey and Catherine Bryan; and brothers, Ralph, Tom, Marlin and Joe Kotarsky.
<B>MUTMANSKY </B>— Friends of Pete M Mutmansky, who died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME</B>, corner of Church and River Avenue, Masontown. Visitation also will be held until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home when a prayer service will be held in the funeral home chapel.A Mass of Christian burial will follow at noon Tuesday at St. Mary (Our Lady of Perpetual Help) Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, with the Rev. Donald Trexler as celebrant.Burial will follow at the church cemetery.A parish wake service was held at noon today at the funeral home.Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mutmansky home in Butler.
