Mary Jane Anthony
Mary Jane Anthony, 92, of Butler, passed away, Tuesday morning, Nov. 21, 2023.
She was born in Butler, on Dec. 2, 1930, a daughter of the late Paul and Hubertine (Weber) Fundark.
Mary Jane was retired from Transitional Living (later Irene Stacy), after 27½ years. Previously she worked at the Butler Shirt Factor and Butler Awnings. She was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville, where she had been a Eucharistic minister. She had received the Humanitarian Award in 2009 and had been inducted into the Pennsylvania Voter Hall of Fame for 50 consecutive years of voting. She was an avid bingo player and loved her birds.
Surviving are her children, Deborah Duncan, David Anthony, Janet Shuler and William (Tammy) Anthony; brothers and sisters, Pauline Clever, Betty Moniot, Marcie Smith, Joyce Crispin, Ricky Fundark and Eugene Fundark; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a number of stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband of 40 years, Earl L. Anthony, whom she married Oct. 25, 1952, and who passed away Nov. 4, 1992, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Anthony; siblings, Shirley Salkeld, Judy Moore, Ron Fundark and Bobby Fundark; a granddaughter and a great-grandson; and two stepchildren, Paul Anthony Sr. and Sharon Hillwig.
ANTHONY — A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Jane Anthony, who died Tuesday morning, Nov. 21, 2023, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at St. John Roman Catholic Church, Coylesville, 668 Clearfield Road, Fenelton. Interment will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
