Forward Township anticipates balanced budget for 2024

The Forward Township board of supervisors anticipates a balanced budget for 2024.

The township’s draft budget, which was approved for advertisement at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 14, estimates that revenue and expenditures will come in at the same amount: $1,899,147.

Nearly half of the township’s expected revenue is expected to come from taxes, with $795,412 coming from “Enabling Act” taxes such as the Local Services Tax and the Earned Income Tax. Another $162,398 is expected to come from property taxes.

A further $458,875 is expected from state-related taxes, such as the liquid fuels tax and Act 13 impact fees.

The township is also anticipating $229,500 from road works-related grants.

More than half of the township’s expenditures are expected to be taken up by public works, which are estimated to cost $1,019,796. This includes $300,000 for road maintenance and repairs and $49,746 for snow removal supplies, as well as the $70,100 annual salary for the township’s road master, Charles Behm.

A further $320,142 is earmarked for “general government,” while $149,680 is set aside for public safety. $162,710 will pay for benefits for township staff.

The township’s budget is available for public review online at the township website, forwardtwpbutlerco.us.
