Nevins 100th birthday
Eunice Baumgarten Nevins of Butler recently celebrated her 100th birthday.
A family gathering Oct. 24 marked the occasion with a Mass at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church followed by a dinner in the church social hall.
The former Eunice Baumgarten was born Nov. 12, 1909, in Bruin. She graduated from East Brady High School and Iron City Business College.
She married Clifford Nevins on July 26, 1932. He is deceased.
She has one surviving sister, Eva Moreland, and a brother, Richard F. Baumgarten. She also has 10 nieces and nephews, 13 great-nieces and eight great-nephews, five great-great nieces and one great-great nephew. Her siblings Ruth and Bill are deceased.
Mrs. Nevins worked for 50 years as head purchasing agent at T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil.
She is a lifelong resident of Butler County and was active in many organizations in the community. Mrs. Nevins has served on St. Peter Women's Council, Intermediate League, Alpha Club, Lion's Club Auxiliary, GFWC Women's Club, BMH Auxiliary as a hospital volunteer and Butler B&P Women's Club. She continues to remain an avid bridge player in several clubs.
