James Mitnik
James M. Mitnik, 73, of Butler, passed away at his residence, on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023.
Born March 5, 1950, in Johnstown, Pa., he was a son of the late John and Jennie Mae Fisher Mitnik.
Jim was employed as a field engineer for Verizon. He previously served as a police officer for Conemaugh Township and East Taylor Township, Cambria County, from 1972 to 1986.
A man of many interests, Jim was a ham radio operator (KK3H), a pilot who obtained his private pilot’s license in 1973, and an automotive enthusiast who especially enjoyed driving his 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner and riding his Harley.
He is survived by his wife, Susan D. Ribblett Mitnik, whom he married June 3, 1972; one son, Seth (Jaime) Mitnik; two sisters, Mimi Pawlus of New York, and Peggy Reese of Florida; and one sister-in-law, Linda Mitnik of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Mitnik and Terry Mitnik; and in-laws, James and Dolores Williams Ribblett.
MITNIK — Friends of James M. Mitnik, who died Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, 429 Center Ave., Butler.
Services will be private, and private entombment will take place in Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum, Johnstown.
